Students often want to write less. Drabble writing encourages brevity as they are limited to 100 word stories! This guided writing activity also calls for students to engage specific sentence structure in their writing. Additional story starters are included as well as a resource for sentence structure.

Precis Frames for Writing
To better prepare my students for a quick way to summarize anything they read, I assign a Section Annotation and a Précis for an informational articles, poetry or novels about every two weeks. Students claim this process is easier than all the highlighting rules required for typical annotation of a text. My product includes Rhetorical Précis, Literary Précis and Poetic Précis frames.

It's Debatable
Step by step worksheets for students to participate in a classroom debate. Debate is a useful tool in the curriculum as it will give students the opportunity to plan and prepare personal responses to relevant issues. Students will improve listening skills, persuasive techniques and information analysis that will be needed in many academic and life situations.
